5.0 out of 5 stars Fractured Fairy Godmother, June 29, 2012 By Rochelle Weber (Volo, IL)
I didn’t expect Maven to be an out-of-work teacher living in her car who wasn’t quite sure what she was doing when she was recruited to save both Faery and Mundane. It made the book even more fun than I expected. Maven stumbles through the book never quite sure what she’s doing, but following her gut and her “Bump of Direction” with help from a hissy, disturbing familiar. Or is it help? Maybe. In her bio at the back of the book, Ms. Babb quoted Lazarus Long, a character created by Robert A. Heinlein: “Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.” Here, here! While I don’t exactly see the Old Man in fae, he did admire good writing and this is good writing. So you need to read this book at least twice. She also cited Terry Pratchett as a favorite author. To that, I say–Granny Weatherwax would have a good cackle over this one. I had several, and so will you.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Wonderful World of Magic, July 10, 2012 by Robert Lewis (LAMOTT, PA, US)
In Maven Fairy Godmother Through the Veil, Charlotte Babb spins us through an intriguing web of magic and more magic that brings out the long ago child in us. Charlotte Babb’s book: Maven Fairy Godmother Through the Veil will give you many smiles along the way as it exposes the kid in you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvelous Maven, July 10, 2012 by DCidboy
Just finished reading Maven Fairy Godmother. It was a fun read, light and bubbly. Maven, out of work, past her prime, and at the end of her rope, accepts an interview for a very unusual job, that of a Fairy Godmother. Skeptical at first, she soon learns that the job is legit and the possibilities for trouble, unlimited. I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and easy to read. I’d like to see it made into a series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great change up from the old stories, July 6, 2012, by D. Anderson “mastheart”  (Florida USA)
I have heard how fairy tales changed from way back when to make them more of the G rated variety that we find today and I also recognized that most of the movies and TV stories today are like fairy tales told in a modern way. When you get right down to it most stories are about good vs evil. Maven Fairy Godmother’s author seems to recognize that all is not black and white. Good vs Evil. There are a lot of gray areas and these are the things that Maven sees and reacts too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Maven Delivers, July 5, 2012 by B.F. Spink “Author, After Midnight In Savannah” (Atlanta, GA)
Maven, like most of us, sometimes has her own ideas, and breaking the rules in a magical world where one doesn’t know exactly how things function can lead to some hilarious quagmires. If you enjoyed Edward Everett Horton narrating “Fractured Fairy Tales” on the old “Rocky and Bullwinkle Show” you’ll probably get a kick out of this book, but — warning — you may never look at fairy tales in the same way

4.0 out of 5 stars Modern day fairy story….., June 23, 2012 By Marie C. Cordalis (Spokane, WA USA) –
It was nice for a change to have the heroine who wasn’t drop dead gorgeous, young, skinny, kick ass, etc., etc., etc…. Someone older, imperfect and struggling who still has lots to contribute to this world and the one beyond the veil. This was a fast, fun, funny read. I loved Maven and many of the other quirky characters and thoroughly enjoyed this modern day fairy tale for grownups. As another review noted, there a few suggestions of adult themes in this book, but nothing graphic. A very clean, funny, fabulous read!

4.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book!, June 2, 2012 by WorldofMyImagination –
If you love fairy tales, magic, and the idea that everyone can make a wish and not just pretty princesses (hey, trolls have wishes too, you know), than you will want to read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars You Gotta Love Maven, May 31, 2012 by Marva Dasef “YA Fantasy Author” (Eugene, OR)
Maven isn’t having much luck with life. Matter of fact, things suck. She’s broke, out of gas, and at the end of her rope. But she tries for one more job and, after the weirdest interview ever, is hired to be…a fairy godmother? In training, of course. Taken in Faery, she’s given a wand, wings, and a bit of gossamer to adjust as needed into clothing. She finds out that her interview wasn’t just the virtual reality she assumed it was, but a real experience of wish granting for Ashleigh (the cinder covered girl with the rotten stepsisters). Recognizing the story, Maven puts together the coach from a pumpkin, horses from mice, and a lizard footman. Everything just as it should be, except…well, Maven can’t resist visiting the ball herself to see how things go….

These three stories were written as I was putting the concept of Maven Fairy Godmother together. I originally planned to make a series of short stories, rather than a novel, but as happens to many authors, my characters took off in their own quests. These stories happen in the future after the first novel, which turned out to be a prequel published first. Time does not flow in a linear direction in Faery, so the future often happens before the past at least from the perspective of some other space. Includes Bubba and the Beast, MavenStiltskin and Fairy Frogmother.

Author Bio: Charlotte Henley Babb is a web designer and college writing instructor in Spartanburg, SC. She brings to any project a number of experiences, including work as a technical writer, gasket inspector, cloth store associate, girl Friday, and telephone psychic. Charlotte Babb began writing when she could hold a piece of chalk and scribble her name–although she sometimes mistook “Chocolate” for “Charlotte” on the sign at the drug store ice cream counter. When her third-grade teacher allowed her access to the fiction room at the school library, Charlotte discovered Louisa Alcott and Robert Heinlein, an odd marriage of the minds. These two authors have had the most influence on her desire to share her point of view with the world and to explore how the world might be made better. She has studied the folk stories of many cultures and wonders what happened to ours.Where the stories are for people over 20 who have survived marriage, divorce, child-rearing, education, bankruptcy, and widowhood? Charlotte loves Fractured Fairy Tales and writes them for your enjoyment.
